In 2008 Keanu Reeves plays an alien looking for reasons to save Earth in the 1951 remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still.
Here is an interesting conversation Keanu had with an old wise professor trying to divert his intentions for destroying the Earth.
Prof - "There must be some alternatives. You must have some technology that will solve our problem."
"Your problem is not technology. Your problem is you. You lack the will to change."
Prof - "Then help us change."
"I cannot change your nature."
Prof - "Every civilization reaches a crisis point eventually. It's only at the brink of destruction that people find the will to change."
What is that?
What brings one to the brink? A crisis.
Will I be there at that time to be available for that person in crisis?
How can we assist one in crisis?
First, recognize that you are not the answer. Second, recognize the problem. Third, know the solution.
The answer is in the One that changes our very nature.
How is that the answer? When your nature (the problem) is changed, a new nature is given; the nature of God. You don't become God, rather your desires change. You desire what God desires.
Wrap your mind around that, and you will find the answer to life’s problems. Problems that don't come to an end, rather are now seen from a different perspective. Everything changes, though nothing may ever change in this space and time. When your nature changes, your heart changes, your thinking changes, your life changes.
Ecc.12:13
"The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man."
Now life becomes about what Jesus said, the sum of the commandments - love God and love your neighbor as you love yourself -
Tend to your needs, meet other’s needs and experiencing joy within the process. Don't miss David's meaning in Ps. 51:12,13
"Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. THEN I will teach transgressors your ways, and sinners will return to you."
There is only One who can tend to your needs, and He does so from the inside out.
